23 March 2024
10am to 3pm
An ethnobotanical exploration of colour and plants.
Join ethnobotanist Bec Briar in the barn at The Woven Briar, for an introduction to the world of plant dyes.
Explore the many colours hidden in the flowers, bark, cones, twigs and leaves of plants that you see around you every day. We will explore plant that I have foraged or grown on my farm, and you will have the knowledge to be able to identify and forage them yourselves after the course.
We will begin the morning learning about different dyes while we cook up our dye bath over a campfire outside, or, in bad weather, over a stove in the barn.
We will learn how to extract dye, prepare our wool and dye it, and each participant will be able to take home 100g of your own dyed yarn.
This is a creative and playful day, no experience at all is required, we will create magic together!
